A portfolio site for a video editor in the spirit of Silent Hill 2: a dependency-free server, editing right on the page and video compression on upload.
The problem
The editor needed a site that shows his taste on its own rather than a site-builder template, and he wanted to manage videos, copy and enquiries himself without a developer for every change.
What I built
▹An atmospheric landing page: fog, a cracked tiled wall, work shown as an inventory and case studies as a journal with 3D page turns. Animations use only transform and opacity, so scrolling stays smooth
▹The admin panel is the landing page itself: text is edited in place and videos are dropped into slots. Drafts, undo, 40 versions of history and protection against overwriting edits from another tab
▹A Node server with zero runtime dependencies: content, enquiries, uploads, sessions, and rate limits on login and the contact form
▹Background media compression with ffmpeg: photos to WebP, videos to VP9 WebM plus an MP4 fallback for older iPhones, with encoding progress shown in the admin panel
▹Russian data protection law (152-FZ): versioned privacy policy and consent, no submission without consent, enquiries stored only on the server and deleted after the retention period
▹An English version: the language switches under a fog transition without reloading the page. A cookie notice with an equally prominent decline button
▹Docker Compose: Node with ffmpeg, nginx and Let’s Encrypt HTTPS with automatic renewal
The outcome
The site is live at temak1n-portfolio.xyz. The owner can manage content, work and enquiries himself through the admin panel without a developer.
What this demonstrates
An unconventional visual project end to end: from concept and performant animation to a custom CMS and a production server.
